Dr. Jennifer M. Nomides, MD, MPH

Originally from southeastern Pennsylvania, Dr. Jennifer M. Nomides, MD, MPH moved to North Carolina in 2000 to pursue a degree in Marine Biology at UNC Wilmington. She graduated with honors, valedictorian of the UNCW class 2004, with a Bachelors in Marine Biology and a minor in Chemistry. She eventually went on to obtain her Medical Degree and a Master’s in Public Health in Health Behavior and Health Education as well as a Certificate in Global Health at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. She then moved to Ventura, California, to train in Family Medicine at Ventura County Medical Center, one of the most sought after Family Medicine residency programs in the country. There she learned broad spectrum family medicine - including training in primary care, hospital-based medicine, surgical obstetrics, emergency medicine and pediatrics. For the past four years, she has worked as a Hospitalist at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC. She also serves as the Medical Director for the nonprofit organization Kythoni, serving primarily in rural Haiti where she opened a primary care clinic in the mountains of Marbial a couple years ago in partnership with a Haitian nonprofit. Due to a strong interest in being more involved in the local community, she accepted a position as the Medical Director for Horizons Health and started with us in February 2019.
